Vista Hill Programs

Imagine what it would be like to recover from a devastating illness without a safe place to live.

This unfortunate reality affects thousands of people in San Diego County with alcohol and drug dependency. Among the many negative aspects that may accompany this disease, loss of a stable home situation is an important issue.

Recognizing that a stable home environment is essential to successful recovery, Vista Hill found a solution by acquiring an apartment building in 2000. Referred to as “sober living”, the Vista Hill Apartments provide transitional housing in a safe and sober environment in the Lemon Grove community. Clients who successfully complete defined treatment milestones are eligible to apply for an apartment. Treatment and aftercare participation are required conditions for residing in the apartments. Frequently our offering of a stable living situation is the pivotal factor in parent – child reunification efforts.

Through the generous donations of individuals and grants, Vista Hill is often able to offer a subsidized apartment to qualified clients. As our clients progress in recovery and achieve independence, they move toward total responsibility in paying their rent. We have some clients who have graduated from treatment, completed aftercare and continue to reside in the complex.

The Geisel Activity Center is adjacent to the Vista Hill Apartments. It offers a warm, home-like setting for client community meetings, support groups and social gatherings. Behind the Center, the backyard is set up like a small park with a patio, walkway and multi-station play structure for kids.
